Cardiovascular Sonography Certificate Program

Prepare for the field of cardiovascular sonography through an 18-month certificate program that combines live instruction, guided on-campus lab practice, and externship courses.

What students study

Echocardiography uses ultrasound to create real-time images of the heart. Students begin with foundational science and progress into cardiovascular sonography coursework and applied practice.

  • Echocardiogram I and Lab I
  • Echocardiogram II and Lab II
  • Externship I and Externship II

Program format and schedule

Lecture courses meet live through Zoom. Lab training and monthly exams take place on campus at 1212 S. Atlantic Blvd., Unit 202, Alhambra, CA 91803.

Weekday option: Monday–Thursday, 5:30–9:30 PM. Lectures meet Monday and Wednesday; labs meet Tuesday and Thursday. Anatomy and Physiology meets Monday–Thursday for the first quarter.

Weekend option: Saturday and Sunday, with live lectures from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and on-campus labs from 1:00–5:00 PM. Exams are held on campus once per month. Confirm the cohort calendar, breaks, and availability with Admissions.

Hands-on learning

On-campus lab courses give students structured opportunities to connect classroom concepts with guided echocardiography practice. Externship I and II form the final stage of the curriculum sequence.

Admissions can provide a written cost breakdown for your enrollment period. 0% interest in-house financing is available for qualified applicants, subject to school approval and applicable terms. Payment amounts, schedules, and due dates are disclosed in writing before enrollment.

There are no course prerequisites. This does not waive the school's admission requirements. Review the catalog and contact Admissions for the application requirements and documents needed before enrollment.

Accreditation and CCI eligibility

SC Healthcare College is not currently accredited. Accreditation and state approval are separate. Eligible graduates may qualify for CCI's Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) examination through an applicable pathway, including CCI's pathway for qualifying non-programmatically accredited programs. CCI determines eligibility; graduating does not automatically qualify a student or guarantee certification or employment.
